Here are my current products for the morning.
While I don't use all of these products at the same time every morning, I do make sure to follow a basic mild cleanser - hydrating toner - light moisturizer - sunscreen rule.
Having combination skin that's easily irritated and on the drier/dehydrated side (my skin has definitely changed!), milk cleansers are my thing now. I've always loved cleansing with this type of cleanser even when my skin was oily. Now, I find the formulations comforting and soothing. The ones that seem to work best on me contain mineral oil (mineral oil suits me and has never caused me any problems) but I've tried ones that are plant based too.
Avene Gentle Milk Cleanser - It is what it is. Gentle. Non-irritating. This can take off light makeup easily but I reserve it for mornings when my skin is extra sensitive from seasonal allergies because it soothes my skin while cleansing. Smells good too!
The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Cleansing Milk - This is like the more affordable version of the Avene milk. Gentle and effective and soothing but without the hypoallergenic claims. It's brightening so I like it for everyday. This also smells so beautiful! Makes my mornings brighter.
The toner should be pH balancing and hydrating in the mornings. The tap water where we live is full of mineral sediments and is harsh on the skin. For me, toner is a necessity. Also, my skin is easily dehydrated during the day and my sunscreen contains alcohol which can dehydrate it further so I like to layer on the moisture.
Avene Thermal Spring Water - While not technically a toner, this balances the pH levels and treats redness and irritation.
Dr. Belmeur Daily Repair Hydrating Toner - This is a nice hydrating toner that is formulated to be low irritant. It's basic and works well layered with other skincare.
Anything with a light texture will do it for me in the morning.
Pond's Acne Clear Leave On Expert Clearing Gel - This isn't technically a moisturizer but it works just like a gel-type moisturizer but with the added benefit of treating spots. I use it all over my face on those days.
The Face Shop Chia Seed Hydrating Emulsion - On most days it's just this. Because chia seeds retain moisture, this has kept my face happily hydrated throughout the day despite being very lightweight.
Derma E Hydrating Eye Cream- This has been a good basic eye cream that I can't seem to finish despite being used twice a day, everyday! Great value!
My sunscreen NEEDS to be cosmetically elegant because I wear makeup during the day. In the humid, rainy weather, it also needs to stay in place.
Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Gel SPF50+PA++++ - Ride or die sunscreen for face and body. Unfortunately contains alcohol but like I mentioned, I've worked around it.
So there it is. My updated skincare routine!
Have an awesome day ahead!
