July Empties

So I managed to empty quite a few more items last July. I included a hair product and a body product in this month's Empties. I had also finished a giant bottle of shampoo, but it was too much trouble to photograph for this post. I had also accidentally thrown away the sheet mask packages and teeny tiny sample sachets of some products. Sorry, I won't be able to show those anymore.

During the summer, I could get away with Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water as my first cleanse and even posted a hack on Instagram using Johnson's Baby Oil and the micellar for removing waterproof eye makeup. Last month's skin changes called for more hydrating cleansers and this one was just too drying for me. Luckily, by the time that happened, I was already at the bottom of the bottle and easily reserved this to removing mistakes and lip makeup until I finally finished it. Glad none of it went to waste! Will probably start using this again next year in the summer months.

While scouting new hydrating products, I came upon a sample of Avene Hydrance Optimale Soothing Hydrating Serum. I had used up the tiny tube and it helped my skin make up for the lost moisture during that time. I loved it at first, especially when my skin was so dry. It would just suck up this serum! However, I noticed that when my skin was already re-hydrated after a two weeks of use (yep, the sample lasted more than two weeks 1x/day use!), whenever I would put this on, it would pill up into little balls and not absorb at all. I thought, maybe it had done its job already so my skin has no need for it? Then I couldn't justify buying a full sized bottle of this if I wasn't going to be enjoying it every night. A 30ml bottle costs close to PHP2000 here! So, no thanks. Even if I love everything Avene, I still have to be practical with my purchases.

On the other hand, here is an empty tin of Smith's Rosebud Salve. I don't know how many tins I've gone through of these and its Minted Rose Version (which just replaced this one! I always have backups!). I guess it's safe to say that this is my Holy Grail lip balm. I still haven't found anything better than this. I use it as a lip mask at night btw. I just wipe off the excess in the morning and my lips never chap throughout the following day.

The saddest part of this Empties post is that I have to say goodbye to an old fave, Derma E Antioxidant Natural Sunscreen. The sad thing is...it's not empty yet! I think it went bad already. The texture changed and my skin would itch whenever I tried using it. Then again, I've had the same bottle for one year already, maybe that's why? This used to be my go to sunscreen whenever I have sensitized skin but now I'm afraid it might cause problems for me. I have to let it go. So sad.

Now, for the non-facial thingies. I purchased Beach Born Classy Not Brassy Purple Shampoo back when I was blonde. Clearly I'm not blonde anymore, but I hate not using it up. It didn't tone my hair much when it was blonde and it was drying for my strands. The good news is that my scalp loved this and I noticed it removed persistent flakes around my hairline. I won't repurchase though because it leaves my hair really dry even with conditioner afterward. And lastly, the Nivea Soft is my body moisturizer after I shower. I get soft skin after applying this. It absorbs fast and it isn't sticky also. It took me about 3 months to finish this tub. I replaced it with The Face Shop Fresh Milk Cream and I noticed that the textures and benefits of both are almost identical.

Has anybody else been emptying their beauty bin? I hope you didn't have to let go of some beloved products like I had to. Did anybody use up any favorites? What are your thoughts?

Rainy day again today. Stay dry.
